To line characterize the time signature of a blast-pressure event, transducers are required for two types of measurements. Sideon transducers (incident) are those that record free field pressure at varying distances from the blast source. Their design must minimize interference with the flow behind the shock front. Reflected-pressure transducers are used for measuring pressures reflected at normal or oblique incidence from a rigid surface. Flow and diffraction effects are no longer important. This type of transducer must be mounted so that its sensing surface is flush with the reflecting surface for the shock front.
Here''s how it was done: First, the multileaf rear springs were replaced with single-leaf kits springs and an air spring. The single-leaf for design has less operating friction than a multileaf, so it responds faster.
